The increased global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) is having a significant impact on companies that both produce and supply equipment to this market, resulting in rapid advances in machine design, capacity and efficiency. In the LNG process, natural gas is converted to liquid form, making the gas easier to store and transport. When the LNG is needed for use, it is regasified and distributed as pipeline natural gas.
EagleBurgmann Provides Leak-free Sealing Solution, Receives Honorable Mention in Success Story of the Year Competition
As a leading manufacturer of mechanical seals, EagleBurgmann takes great care to offer comprehensive sealing solutions tailored specifically for its customers’ needs. In 2009, the De Dietrich 62 Series drive mixer of a major U.S. chemical company in Michigan was experiencing seal failure every six months, and they looked to EagleBurgmann for a solution.
The new 23,000 square foot headquarters facility in Houston will include space for administration, sales, manufacturing, training and testing, allowing EagleBurgmann USA to streamline their operations as well as to ensure they are able to meet increasing market demand. The training facility will be used as an industry hub for technology transfer and instruction. Freudenberg will also use it to showcase their technologies for the oil and gas market.
Depending on the application and service environment, metal bellows expansion joints can generally provide over 10 years of reliable service before needing replacement. Unfortunately, the bellows typically do not give any early warning signs before failure or developing leaks, and they can be difficult to weld repair.
Urea, the world’s leading type of nitrogen fertilizer, is produced by high-pressure synthesis from liquid ammonia and a gas/water mixture with carbon dioxide under high pressure (up to max. 180 bar) and elevated temperatures (up to max. 446°F) in a synthesis tower. Synthetic ammonia carbamate is then produced and obtained as white granules and a finished product.
Chem-Trend, a leading global manufacturer of process chemical specialties with a main focus on high- performance mold release agents, now offers a comprehensive range of process chemicals for the packaging industry with the expansion of its Lusin® product line. Introduced to the market in 2010, these new products are NSF registered and can be used when manufacturing items subject to specific hygiene requirements, such as drink bottles, food packaging, toys, toothbrushes and household goods.
Discovering new and productive ways to increase rotating equipment reliability and plant efficiencies has become critical to success in an increasingly competitive global market place. Technology thought leadership empowers EagleBurgmann with solution centric and cost effective sealing strategies that enable industry to meet today’s challenging market conditions.
Expansion joints are flexible connections installed in piping and ducting systems to accommodate thermal expansion and/or vibration caused by changes in temperature, pressure, media and more. With more than 50 years of experience, EagleBurgmann Expansion Joint Solutions is one of the most experienced and innovative expansion joint manufacturers worldwide. As a Freudenberg company, EagleBurgmann Expansion Joint Solutions handles the design, manufacture, technical support and service of its fabric and metal expansion product line.
To ensure high reliability of gas seals, a clean and dry gas at the seal is required. Gas supply systems draw product gas from a higher-pressure stage of the compressor during dynamic operation, filter the gas and use it for flushing the seal. In standstill operation of the compressor there is no gas source of higher pressure available due to the lack in flow in the machine, i.e. the seal cannot be protected from contaminated product gas.
In September 2007, a major power generation company received the order from a Chinese steel manufacturer to build the first large blast furnace gas (BFG)-fired combined-cycle power station in China.
In 2008 the power generation company supplied, among other things, two gas-turbine driven centrifugal compressor branches with EagleBurgmann gas seals in a tandem arrangement and put them successfully into service in December 2009.
